Farmers Market Co-Worker

If you enjoy people, food, and farmer’s markets, this may be the job for you!
We’re looking for a farmers market vendor who will be responsible for selling mushrooms and mushroom foods at the summer Mill City Farmers Market in Minneapolis. MCFM happens every Saturday morning during the summer. Others will do prep to get things ready for the market, but vendor will also be solely responsible for setting up and breaking down booth, and transporting booth supplies to and from the market.
The work: Vendor will pick up market van and booth supplies in south Minneapolis, transport it to the Mill City Farmers Market, unpack and set up our booth, actively sell mushrooms and butters/spreads during the market, break down and repack materials, and return them to storage. Work during the market includes answering questions about the farm, accepting payment, and recording inventory and sales.
Hours: Markets are from 8am through 1pm, with an hour or two required on either end to transport materials to and from the market and to set up and break down the booth.
Duration: The market runs all Saturdays from May 1st through October 30th, but the work is split between two vendors. That means that in general you'll work every-other-market, but that change as necessary - to accommodate plans of each vendor.
Compensation: $16 per hour. You will also get a regular supply of free mushrooms, and a vendor discount on mushrooms and other market products.
Work Location: The Mill City Farmers Market is located next to the Guthrie Theater and Mill City Museum in Minneapolis – at 704 S 2nd St. The pickup location for our van and market materials is in the Powderhorn neighborhood, just 5 minutes or so south of downtown.
Selection Criteria: Candidates should have some experience and/or talent in retail sales such as at a restaurant, coffee shop, or store. We’re looking for someone who is dependable, careful, and enthusiastic about food and farmers markets. We expect vendor to make at least one trip to the farm to get a training/tour of our production and methods.
Application deadline: We will hire as soon as we find the right person.
Application Details: Please email Jeremy with a description of why you’re interested in the position. I’d also like to see a resume and at least one professional and one personal reference.
