We’re not currently seeking a production lead

Mushroom Production lead is in charge of summer mushroom production at the Northwood Mushrooms farm, and stay on for winter logging and log inoculations.

The work: Summer work is primarily mushroom picking, but also the very physical work of moving logs and force-fruiting on schedule.  He or she will also be responsible for leading a small team of employees and interns.  Winter work is logging and log inoculations, working closely with the owner-manager.

Hours: Farm work is 40 to 50 hours per week starting at 7:30am, generally quitting around 5pm.  Workers receive a day off each week, but are generally expected to work at least one day each weekend – at least in the summer.

Duration: This position is year-round.

Compensation: Pay is either $15 per hour plus housing (if you live on the farm) or $18 per hour (if you live off the farm). Free mushrooms and discounts on other farm products are also available. Living on the farm includes a private room, all utilities, plus internet, and use of the farm house kitchen.

The Team: Summer teams can be up to a few full and part-time employees and interns, including both production and processing workers.

Work Location: We have a beautiful 38 acre farm at 827 15th St., Clayton, WI 54004, about an hour and a half from the Twin Cities.

Selection Criteria: Previous general farm or production experience desirable, as well as speed, attention to detail, endurance, and ability to lift 75 lbs.  Production lead isn’t expected to have previous experience in mushroom cultivation, but some experience with equipment maintenance and basic construction is very desirable.  Even more importantly, we’re looking for someone who is used to and comfortable with working with little day-to-day instruction, picks up on new skills and information quickly, and can train and keep a team working well together.

Application Details: Please email Jeremy at cherrytreehousemushrooms@gmail.com with a description of why you’re interested in the position.  He’d also like to see a resume and at least one professional and one personal reference.
