Farmers Market Vendors and Samplers wanted


If you enjoy people, mushrooms, and farmer’s markets, this may be the job for you!  We’re looking for two friendly, enthusiastic, and well-organized people to run or assist at our Saturday Farmers Market and/or to do mushroom pate sampling at Twin Cities area grocery stores.

farmers market work – Vendors are responsible for selling mushrooms and our mushroom foods, sampling mushroom foods, answering questions about the farm, accepting payment, and recording inventory and sales.

Full market vendor: We need a vendor to pick up market van and materials at 6:15am. or 6:30am., set-up booth, work the market (8am through 1pm), break-down booth, and return van and materials afterward.

market assistant: We need a vendor to assist at market from 9am to noon.

Sampling work – pick up sampling materials from our south Minneapolis home base, drive to grocery store, set up sampling station, sample pate for a few hours while answering questions about the product and our farm, then return.  Samplings are generally Sunday afternoon, and last four or five hours (including pick-up and drop-off).

Duration: We hope to do a couple of training shifts in April, with regular shifts from May 2nd through the end of October, 2020.  See our Events calendar for the confirmed dates of the market, though some may be added later.

Compensation: $11 to $13 per hour depending on position and experience. You will also get a vendor discount on mushrooms and other market products – if not free product.

Work Location: The Mill City Farmers Market is located next to the Guthrie Theater and Mill City Museum in Minneapolis – at 704 S 2nd St. You can find more details about the Mill City market here.  Sampling locations vary from Minneapolis to Chanhassan.

Selection Criteria: Candidates should have some experience and/or talent in retail sales such as at a restaurant, coffee shop, or store. We’re looking for someone who is dependable, careful, and enthusiastic about food and farmers markets. We expect vendor to make at least one trip to the farm to get a training/tour of our production and methods.  Previous experience driving a van a plus, but a driver’s license is required.
